National Holiday Of October 28th
Today is one of the most important days of the Greek History. On October 28th, 1940, the Italian Government delivered an ultimatum to the Greek Government demanding the free passage of the Italian army from the Greek-Albanian borders. The response of the Greek Prime Minister, Ioannis Metaxas, was “NO!” expressing the feeling of the Greek people who chose sacrifice instead of enslavement. Thus, Greece entered into the terrible World War II. This day is celebrated every year with joy and deep emotion. Today, on lovely Santorini, after the end of the morning Holly Mass, the school parade will take place. It is worth the time, for locals and visitors, to participate at this big celebration.
